U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
HUD, under direction from Congress, published a final notice in 2004 that set forth the data and technical standards for Homeless Management Information Systems. All recipients of HUD McKinney-Vento Act Program Funds are expected to participate in an HMIS, including providers receiving Emergency Shelter Grant, Supportive Housing Program, Shelter Plus Care, and Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation for Single Room Occupancy funding.

Bitfocus, Inc. administers all aspects of Southern Nevada's HMIS and works with the Working Group to oversee the system. Bitfocus manages the database and creates reports from the data to help us better understand homelessness and how to improve client services. Bitfocus provides support for agencies to use the database effectively.
